Just received my Asus UL30A-X5 yesterday. After powerful review, and a try-out with an Acer 1410, I decided that I wanted a full-sized chiclet/island keyboard and the larger mask. I'm already quite delighted with my decision. At the < $700 effect point, this is an top-notch notebook.

Pros

- Keyboard. A pleasure to type on.

- Touchpad. It drags at first, but once you secure some finger oil on it, and change the pointer hurry, it's one of the best that I've frail. Very aloof two finger scroller. Relieve for customized two and three finger click.

- Shroud. Shiny and easy to read at 30 degree angles.

- Battery life. Yes, it will do over 10 hours.

- Weight/size. 1 rush thin and very light.

- Body. Treasure the brushed sad metal peer on the case.

- Asus facial recognition login. Didn't deem that I would care, but it's nice to have the computer log in, without touch, when I'm sitting in front of it.

- Asus FastBoot (not the BIOS lickety-split boot) . This lets you configure which programs load during startup and which load after. Speeds up the boot quite a bit.

- Decent speakers. Not ear-destroying, but obliging for the size. Worthy better than most netbooks.

Cons

- Placement of touchpad. It detached registers my palm as I'm typing even at the shameful setting. Downloaded the current touchpad driver, but that didn't fix. Quiet looking for a solution. This is by far the most frustrating pickle. UPDATE: The TouchFreeze utility seems to almost fix the boom.

- Case smooth shows fingerprints.

- Web cam is rude res and has pains in obscene light (haven't tried different drivers yet) .

I recently purchased the Asus UL30A-X5 through Amazon and am very happy with my decision. Let me first launch by briefly explaining what I was looking for in a unique laptop, as I fill that will give the reader better information when deciding if this laptop is honest for them. I am currently a student on a budget and was looking for the following: 1) Less than $700 in sign, 2) Hide size between 13-14", 3) Windows 7 already installed (I didn't want an older computer with Vista that I would have to manually upgrade to Derive 7 myself), 4) At least 320GB HD, 3 GB DDR3 RAM, and a Pentium Core 2 Duo SU7300 equivalent or greater processor, 5) Thin and light, and 6) 4+ solid hours of battery life. Although a netbook offers a runt size and easy portability, I didn't want to sacrifice power and performance for everyday tasks. On the other hand, I also didn't want a gargantuan "desktop replacement" laptop that would be a hassle to carry around or difficult to lift with me anytime I was away from home. In summary, I wanted a laptop that offered a obliging combination of power, performance, and size for my money. With that being said, here is my impression thus far after 2 days of using this computer:

Pros:

-Performance: Able to smoothly and efficiently handle everything I have wanted to do to this point. It is even faster than my 3 year used 15.6" Dell Inspiron that I originally paid $1300 for at the time.

-Size and Weight: Couldn't be happier with the sleek observe and light weight. It looks even better in person than in the pictures.

-Quality: Some people may consider you are sacrificing quality for a laptop with these specs for under $700. I reflect this computer is built very well, and would argue it stands up to the distinguished more expensive or name-brand models in the same class.

-Warranty: The accidental protection warranty offers an extra share of mind, which is also something not often included without an additional cost in other laptops.

-Keyboard: Very easy to consume, huge invent!

-Mousepad: I admire the textured touchpad on this model. It is difficult to notice in the pictures, but the touchpad is actually not a passe "pad", but a bunch of diminutive dots that track the movement of your finger. Also, I really like the extra features such as being able to scroll up or down a page by using two fingers anywhere on the pad.

Cons:

-The only thing that I am not too mad about is the exiguous (or "smaller" when compared to my larger laptop) mouse buttons below the touchpad. This might be something that unbiased takes a small getting obsolete to, but it is more difficult to click the buttons than on my older laptop. Again, this is my first 13.3" laptop so it probably unbiased comes with the nature of a smaller laptop and I will gain broken-down to it with time, but it's unprejudiced something I wanted to point out if you are transitioning from a tremendous laptop to a smaller one.

Overall, I couldn't be happier with my capture. Definite, there are better laptops on the market as some will argue, but only if you are willing to exercise $1000+. This computer definitely earns "5 stars" and I consider anyone who is looking for an affordable, ultra-portable laptop with remarkable performance will be very elated as well.

I really appreciate this computer despite the facts that it has some issues. I really like the do, it's very thin, less than 1 slouch, but by no means is thinner than the macbook air. The casing is very sexy, it looks very nice from all angles. The keyboard is astonishing, the only pickle is that it has a runt flex but its not the kill of the world I can type gorgeous well. The most annoying thing might be the touchpad, whenever you type and you have your hands positioned end to it, the touchpad might register some click while you type. A lot of people are talking about the battery life of this computer that it won't even near 10 hours, I can confirm I score 11+ hours on this lappie, Windows 7 is grand more energy efficient than Vista (note: I tested under wireless off, lowest cloak brightness, power saving mode, word 2007) . I really like the imprint point its less than $700, which is the perfect brand for the performance.

PROS:

- Stylish, very sexy looking.

- Keyboard feels astounding.

- Multi-touch track pad works well

- Speedily compared to a netbook (C2D, 4GB DDR3)

- Battery life 11+ hours

- Shimmering Logon, very nice wintry feature

- Immense hard drive 500GB

- LED camouflage has nice viewing angles

- Very light and portable

- The charger is very itsy-bitsy and portable too.

- Loud quality speakers from shrimp size

- Warranty, 1 Year of accidental Damage

- Impress its a deal!

CONS:

- Fingerprint magnet (inside and outside)

- Loud Hard drive (a limited annoying)

- Microscopic flex on the keyboard

- ASUS bloatware

- Intel GMA4500MHD, where's the UL30A-VT? can't do gaming

- It doesn't cook, do laundry, or cleans my room.

This computer is perfect for students, and travelers. Recommended

I have not had an opportunity to fully test the lifting/pulling power of this winch, but I can narrate that the batteries do not maintain a charge in storage, either in or out of the blueprint. Upon receipt of the winch (with dreary batteries) I charged both batteries for several hours, establish one in the machine and tried it out briefly against arm strength. All the indicator lights came on to exhibit a elephantine charge. It is mighty more noisy than I expected, and the motor must hasten to pay out the cable, as well as to retrieve it. After charging, I do it in the trunk. Two weeks later, when racy it, I tried to test it again. Unfortunately, neither battery had enough energy remaining to power the winch for even a microscopic.

I bought this tv because I was tired of having a lot of equipment around the tv. Meaning a DVD player. Figured a built in one was the method to go.

After owning this tv now for about 2 weeks. I secure that the record isn't very top-notch and when it is an HD program it isn't great better than a non - HD program.

I am also experienceing problems with the DVD player. It skips on some DVD's. I have taken the dvd out and cleaned it, but serene had problems. Plus I couldn't witness any scratches on the dvd to cause the skipping.

Bottom line, I feel there are better 32" LCD TV/DVD Combos out there for the same stamp.Sylvania LD320SSX 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV/DVD Combo

We set a movie in and immediately view there had to be something faulty. There was very microscopic incompatibility. Any scene where the lighting was not smart, characters looked more like a shadow because all features were lost without dissimilarity. The colors were off too. After some adjusting of factory settings, it got a limited better. But there are worthy better TVs out there for the sign paid for this dwelling, even if you have to rob a separate DVD player. But if you really need a combo unit and don't need gigantic characterize quality, this will suffice.

Great value and big portray with acceptable sound. One colossal drawback for me,though. The residence is incompatible with the Comcast remote and communication with both Comcast and Sylvania (Funai Corp.) offered no support other than "sorry".

Lows: Died at 10 months of exercise due to a coolant leak.

Whirlpool does not get this unit, it only slaps its sticker on the front. So, Whirlpool would not do the Warranty work on the item. From a third-party authorized repair service, it costs twice as worthy to repair the unit as it worth.

This is the most versitile nail gun I've ever old. It shoots 16d, 8d, and 7d Galvanized nails! No need to switch guns for different projects. Only jam is that it's a shrimp front heavy. But you'll derive yourself wondering if you'll ever race out of nails.

i purchased this gun about 3 years ago from amazon, and originally rated it 5 stars. this gun is very rapidly, if it doesn't quandary! the nail coils are rapped backwards, and if the coil is the least bit mis-shaped it's gonna gain stuck. it is very top heavy. no tear supplier stocks nails for this model. everything is special ordered. i switched to the hitachi NR 90AC3 and it may not acquire a couple hundred nails, but i can take the nails anywhere. if this gun does quandary it objective needs a diminutive oil. this gun saves me more time than the coil nailer honest cause it always works when i need it.

This is nice headgear because it has a lace-up allotment in the aid to snugly fit it to your head. The only staunch complaint is that the chinstrap (and loop-hole for the chin strap) seem a bit flimsy. I consider a stray finger in a ruck could trot it if pulled hard enough. There is no spot hearing people through the ear holes. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it.

When I purchased this laptop for my wife the ticket was $450. and what we received for the money was quite the bargain. My wife's usage needs included web surfing, email, light gaming, and most importantly online video streaming. This machine does all that and more.

Positives:

. Suitable HD video system. The camouflage is 16/9 aspect ratio which means it'll exhibit a native wide mask format. (no sad bars) Most Laptops are 16/10 aspect ratio which gives you the bars on top and bottom.

. The machine has HDMI out. This allows us stream internet tv and video to our plasma great camouflage if we both want to seek.

. Wireless N connectivity for up to 300kbs internet speeds.

. Onboard web cam is nice.

. Free upgrade to windows 7 is also a bonus that saves you >$100 compared to a separate rob.

. Blooming screen

About the only negatives I can consider of is that it would be nice to have a finger print reader for security and perhaps a video card that could handle 3D gaming. (If I were to occupy it, for my wife it's perfect)

I purchased this Laptop about a week ago. I am so impressed with it so far. For 500 hundred dollars I usually exercise it in the mall, and when you take this Laptop you don't regret it because its cheap. Before I bought it, I looked at all of your guys recommendation's, so thanks to all of you. I recommend this Laptop to anyone. I Care For IT.

I had a Sony Vaio from 2003 and loved it. But I knew it was time for an updated computer after it went terrible a second time. I looked at Consumer Reports and this Acer computer got 57 out of 100 points but the best only got 75 - so not too terrible. It said the processor was boring if gaming. But I do some photo stuff, some word documents, and internet so I figured the processor hurry wouldn't be too unpleasant - and I haven't noticed anything insensible about this computer at all.

So I procure the computer and it is so sparkling and the perfect size! And it has titanic speakers and the veil is so crystal definite. Now I realize I'm comparing it to a 2003 model - but level-headed it really is nice and is Expeditiously in everything I've asked it to do. It came with Windows 7 upgrade for free which is being mailed. I've personalized it with my software (Roxio and Office) and have primitive it a generous bit. It has lots of plugs for my 2 printers, track ball, regular size keyboard (although the placement of the keys on this computer is sizable and I don't really need to add a regular keyboard) . I'm really very impressed with this impress and my loyalty to Sony is diminishing a runt every day. The faded Vaio was about 2,200.00 and this Acer was 450.00! I am very surprised and delighted so far.

I have had many electric skillets over the years that needed replacement every 3 - 4 years. We exhaust an electric skillet for everything from pancakes to pot roast to stuffed peppers. When I saw this pan, I opinion "Why not? I have already spent hundreds of dollars on the cheaper ones." Well, this is the sturdiest, best built, biggest skillet ever. No sticking, burning, easy to well-organized. The only quandary is the handle on the lid gets hot so consume a hot pad to capture it.

I bought this skillet from a Williams Sonoma retail store on 10/10/08 and returned it on 10/11. They are a very nice store to deal with on products and common the return without predicament. I subsequently found that there are other write-ups on this skillet on their spot where it is not rated highly. I found the criticisms are objective. There is a hot position in the middle. The cooking is not even. A actual test for a stainless steel skillet is cooking eggs and pancakes because the temperature must be kept at about 350 so the food sears quick. The food basically tells you when it is ready to be turned when it releases easily with a spatula. However, even with a lot of grease (from the bacon), food sticks in this skillet. The corners are the coolest and the liquid runs to the corners leaving the middle exposed. Why did the food stick? Because of quality control issues, the temperature control allowed remarkable too wide temperature swings. For example, when the controller was site to 350, the bacon would cook and sizzle. When the unit shut off, the bacon would no longer sizzle and would fair sit there in the pan. Cooking stopped. To fetch the controller to turn the element serve on, I had to turn the dial to the "sear" setting which is about all the diagram up. This was a temperature swing of several hundred degrees. I paid $239 plus tax. This made this an expensive electric skillet which had too many shortcomings to have been acceptable at any imprint.

Perfect for a family because it holds enough food to beget a fine size meal for a family of seven. It is fairly easy to natty. I would buy the lid to be more tightly fitting, but it doesn't affect the cooking.

First off, the cons, since they're most important

-XD Narrate Card.

This is the biggest thing that irks me, since XD is a dying sign and Olympus refuses to give it up. However, since working with it, i've found nothing really terrible about xd, only that it's like sd but objective a small bit bigger, so don't misfortune about this.

-Doesn't reach in orange.

Oh well, I judge i'll live with silver (which is very nice by the map)

-Has an uncommon "favorites mode" i probably won't use*

-Panorama only works in P mode

Who cares, i hold all my pictures in that mode anyway (But it took me a while to learn that)

-Low battery

For some curious reason, i accumulate a obscene battery signal even when i know i've got a couple of hours left. No tall deal, i carry an extra battery with me all the time.

Uhhh, i truthfully can't believe of anything else

Pros:

-Rugged

This camera is a beast. I don't mediate you can smash it. i saw C-net freeze two of these things in a block of ice and when i was at National Camera Exchange, they literally swept it off the counter and let it demolish to the floor. It also feels really sturdy in your hands

-Waterproof

What can i say, built in waterproof. Does that mean i don't have to pains about the rain or snow? Yes. Yes it does.

-Compact

For all it's ruggedness, this camera is dinky. Thin, with a lens you don't have to pains about protruding.

-Easy to use

Comparing it to some Cannon brands at a store, this camera was Contrivance easier to consume and was a lot faster in selecting modes, types of shots, ect.

-Panorama

Has an in camera panorama that is amazingly easy to figure out. First time i tried it, i got exactly the type of shot i wanted, no learning curve. Stitches three pictures together in camera. Perfect for those spectacle nature shots and whatever else you need to rob. (note: Panorama only works with an xd card, and not compatible with the micro sd to xd converter that you find in the box)

-LED lamp

Dapper lustrous white LED on the front for those really shadowy shots. You can also turn it on when the camera isn't on, really useful if you need it in a cinch.

-Surprising Video

Can hold video in 30fps, which came out really obedient. Option of 15fps as well.

-Quick shot view

has a button to press while in camera mode to rapidly notion shots. When finished, press shutter half device and it zips assist to camera mode.

-Very, VERY fast

Even when it wasn't pre-focused, the shot time was in under a second. When pre-focused, the urge really was instantaneous. (as in feeling like an SLR race)

-8mp

Respectable image quality. Outshot cannon models in outdoor shots bar none. Indoor, we found cannon did it a petite better, but that was digitally zoomed in all the contrivance, comparing it side by side with some hesitation. ergo, it's so petite, who cares, and even then the quality was level-headed unbelievable. But if you're that passionate about perfect pictures, you need an SLR.

Not kidding, a 3x OPTICAL zoom with a lens that doesn't protrude from the camera. Since it's 8mp, i don't judge i'll exhaust the zoom, but wow, it really does work.

-Fast startup

With no external lens to push out, startup time is blazingly quick.

-Favorites

If you space a recount in your favorites, it can never be erased from the camera (unless removed from favorites) even when formatting internal memory as well. Plus, you can station one of these pictures to your menu background, which is a nice touch.

What else can i say, this camera really took me by surprise. It has everything i could want in a camera, plus it's astounding durability. Gigantic catch, suggest getting one of the packs that Amazon offers if you want a really suitable sign. If you want to perceive it, compare it, fill it, test it, whatever, i suggest heading over to National Camera Exchange. They should have it, and they really know they're stuff.

So i purchased this camera to steal with me on my sprint to cancun where im planning on doing some snorkeling, although i level-headed have not taken the camera on the scurry i have already passe it and know what its honorable of. The camera has the BEST image stabalizer and anti-blurr system i have ever seen, my brother took the camera to a nascar bustle and took a record of a car going over 175mph accurate infront of him and there was no blurr. It has a mammoth macro setting to buy cessation up pictures, i took a recount of a quarter on my desk from about 1 1/2 inches away and it looked unbelievable, same with a characterize of a flower (the built in LED bulb for macro shots helps a lot!) . The VGA with 30fps only takes 10 seconds of video which sucks, but it u do VGA with 15fps (frames per second) you can do up to 30 minutes, and i could not stutter a inequity between the two when i uploaded two similar videos i shot to test it. The camera takes grand pictures, and the 20+ shot modes abet out sooo powerful. (candle lit mode for that special night, sunset mode, fireworks mode, underwater wide and 2 other underwater modes, night mode, portait, everything u can contemplate of.) I tested it under water at my local pool and it works ample, very handsome underwater pictures, the lens has a metal lens veil that closes when u turn off the camera and its very durable (ex. when my dog grabbed it from my hand and ran off with it) nothing but a few minor scratches. sorry for the long review but i wish i had a long one when i bought it, would have helped me execute a decision grand faster. Camera only goes 10ft so the underwater case is a must if you are going scubadiving, i will at the ruin of march and ill update the review to let u know how that is. Hope this helps, all in all, this is a gigantic camera!

I was looking for an 'unbreakable' camera for my hopelessly clumsy 10 year venerable who begged me for one as a birthday gift. Considering that my dad trusted me with an SLR when I was 10, I decided to give her a chance too - but with precaution. I've read many reviews that the report quality of the Olympus 850 SW was not so mountainous - and that's suitable if you're so stale to Canon and Nikon (we have both in point and shoot and dSLR) .

However, the greatest features of this camera are it's capability to rob shots under water and it's being shockproof (6-ft plunge) . Taking shots in rain, snow, or other wet conditions - as well as wild conditions - is worry-free. If the portray quality is not as considerable as HAVING pictures on those occasions, then using this camera is a no brainer. The 24-scene modes, framing, labeling, shadow fix, etc. are unprejudiced bonuses in my view - though my daughter loves experimenting with them. It does not offer remarkable in the plot of manual control, but I guess that's the point of a point-and-shoot.

She's taken it swimming many times now and it always amazes me to peep our believe smiling faces under water! Maybe the pictures are less luminous than I would have hoped - but for that, I would have to choose an underwater case for my Nikon D80 - and utilize twice the cost of my new camera So until I'm an avid underwater photographer, I can choose for my daughter's Olympus 850 SW.

I must add though, that the battery life is quite mediocre. It must be charged after only less than a hundred shots in VGA mode. Opt to win a second battery.

I objective received this unit and bought it based on my satisfaction with the Toshiba 37" Regza I bought a year ago. It replaces an musty 13" in my bedroom so a 22" seems hugh. The various menues are the same as the Regza so it was very easy to figure out based on my previous experience. Contrary to the Amazon description, it has two HDMI inputs, not one. While the relate is really stout in my notion, I was very disappointed in the sound. Mamimum volume is objective barely acceptable (I am a minute hard of hearing) for listening and it sounds hollow and tinny. I got around this by hooking up a cheap book shelf stereo to my cable box to augment the sound and putting the speakers on both sides of the TV. There are no analog audio outputs on the TV so you need cable for this solution to work. Obviously, this solution would not be acceptable to everyone.

We bought this TV to go in our shrimp living room. We were debating between it and the Samsung 22". We decided to go with the Toshiba because of the better impress and the smaller overall profile. The salesman at the store told us the biggest criticism with the TV was the sound, and he was lawful, it's not very pleasurable. I also opinion the remote control was a tiny "busy" and the on-screen menu is not as intuitive as it could be.

However, the recount is suited. I watched TV from about 10' away and the record was pretty. I also like that it has such a little profile, it almost looks like a fragment of art sitting on a table. Setup was very easy, I had it out of the box and working inside of two minutes.

If your looking for a petite, secondary TV for your bedroom or home office, this TV would work. If you're building a home entertainment center, this is not the TV for you.

I was a bit alarmed on what the sound quality would be like on this TV having read all the reviews. I can speak you that I have this in an 11 X 14 room with cathedral ceilings and I have absolutely NO issues with the sound quality! The report quality is astounding and the plot up was so simple. I like this so considerable that I'm thinking of upgrading my living room TV to a larger version of this. Don't let the reviews on the sound quality occupy you encourage from purchasing.
